Google's AI Search in France: Can It Understand Your Business?

Google's AI Search in France: Can It Understand Your Business?
01

What this evolution implies for your site

On July 22, 2026, Google announced the launch of AI Previews and AI Mode in France. These features allow you to obtain summaries and explore detailed questions, with links to web pages. Source: Google France.

For a small business, this is a good opportunity to take over its service pages. Our recommendation: start with the questions your customers need answered before contacting you.

02

How AI responses change in search

AI Previews provide a summary when such a format is deemed useful by Google. AI Mode allows you to deepen a search with additional questions. These experiences coexist with the other results; a preview is not systematically displayed. Source: Google France announcement.

Let’s take a fictitious question: “I’m looking for a craftsman near Saint-Brieuc to repaint an occupied apartment. How to prepare the parts and compare quotes? »

This person expresses a project, a place and several constraints. To help, a page must provide more than a job name followed by a city.

We therefore propose to work from complete customer situations: what they want to do, what worries them and the information they are missing. This approach aims to make the site useful and understandable. It does not guarantee a citation in an AI response.

03

First return to the page for your main service

Choose an important service for your activity. Reread its page as if you were discovering the company.

Does the text specify the work included? Does it explain the limits of the intervention? Can we understand the steps from the first contact to the quote? Can we find an example of work done?

A page can be elegant and leave these questions open. It is often in the details of the job that the content to be added is found.

Here is a fictional example of a rewrite for a painting company:

General presentation More informative presentation
“We carry out all your work with professionalism. » “We prepare and repaint the walls and ceilings of the accommodation. The visit allows you to assess the condition of the supports, surfaces and protection of the furniture before the estimate. »

The second formulation helps to understand the service. It remains to be adapted: only publish what corresponds to your way of working.

04

Turn your dating questions into useful answers

Think back to the last interactions with your customers. What did you have to explain multiple times?

For the provision of work, questions may concern access, preparation of premises, materials or timetable. For a restaurant, they may relate to group reservations or ordering possibilities. For a business, on an available size or the withdrawal of an item.

Choose the questions that really influence the decision. Respond with the level of detail you could defend to a client.

If the price depends on a visit, explain the elements examined and what will be specified in the quote. If a time frame varies, indicate at which stage it will be confirmed. The reader can move forward even when you can't immediately give an amount or date.

This material can be integrated throughout the page. A long FAQ is not necessary when a few well-placed paragraphs meet the need.

05

Give your evidence a visible place

A realization is more useful when we understand what it shows. Choose a real project and describe the initial need, the main constraint and the work carried out. Use photographs that you can authorize for publication.

You can also explain a decision: why this material was chosen, why the preparation took a certain form or how the intervention was organized. Avoid turning every case into an exceptional outcome. A current construction site, described precisely, already allows the reader to project themselves.

Place the link to this achievement near the corresponding service. The visitor must be able to verify what you are saying when he hesitates.

06

Verify that Google can access important pages

Google indicates that a page must be indexed and able to appear with a snippet to be eligible as a link in its AI responses. It does not require special markup reserved for these functionalities. The foundations of SEO remain relevant. Source: Google Search Central.

Have the accessibility of priority pages checked, possible blockages and the links that allow you to find them. Important information should be available in text form. Google also recommends keeping the business listing up to date. Source: Google documentation.

For your own editorial control, then compare the contact details, services and areas displayed on your different media. An old address or an abandoned offer can also disorient a future customer.

If your site is already difficult to find in search, start with this diagnosis before multiplying new content. Our local SEO support relates in particular to these foundations.

07

Measure what happens after reading

Google clarifies that traffic from its AI features is included in the overall data in Search Console's Web Performance report. A variation of clicks therefore does not, in itself, allow a result to be attributed to AI Mode. Source: Google Search Central.

Note the pages changed and the date of each change. Then follow the visits and especially the requests they accompany: calls, forms, appointments or reservations, depending on your activity.

Add a simple question during the first exchange: “How did you find us? » The answer will sometimes be imprecise, but it can supplement the available data. Also compare the quality of the requests. Better described projects provide useful information, even if the volume of visits changes little.

08

Start with a page you really know

This week, bring together a person who knows the service and a person who responds to customers. List five frequently asked questions, choose an achievement and return to the relevant page together. If you manage these two roles alone, rely on your last exchanges to do the same exercise.

The first improvement to look for is simple: allow the reader to understand your work and prepare a relevant exchange.

Transform reading into action.

Your site presents your company, but does it explain your services with enough precision? ISS-AGENCY can review your pages, their accessibility and the contact path to identify priority corrections.
